Hey all!
Well, as promised, here is my tale of my amazing time at the Relient K concert. I was about 20 feet away from the stage. I was out of the crowd a bit so I didn't get pushed around or anything, which is good by me because I didn't want to get smooshed (is that a word??) up against anything. Anyways, I bought a few things at the concert. I bought a patch that Matty T actually designed, a t shirt that is blue, has a turtle on it, and a pizza slice (let's all go and have a pizza party!). I also bought a zipper sweater that is black and says Relient K down one side of it, and I bought the EPs that are almost impossible to find. I'm listening to the acoustic version of Softer To Me on the Creepy EP right now. It's good because Matty T's voice sounds really sexy, but I really like the original because it is at a good pace.
Anyways, at the concert, there were two bands that opened. They were Name Taken (which I hadn't heard before that night, but they were pretty cool) and Mae (whom I love and I discovered that they are coming out with a new album at the end of March, so buy it). Then, the moment that I had been waiting for for about 4 or 5 years. Relient K took the stage and I was in heaven. They opened with my favourite song off the new album, Who I Am Hates Who I've Been. After that, they sang a whole bunch of their new songs (like Be My Escape, High of 75, The One I'm Waiting For, Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet, Let It All Out, and I So Hate Consequences). They sang Mood Rings, Chapstick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry, In Love With the 80's (Pink Tux to the Prom), and Forward Motion from the Two Lefts Don't Make a Right, But Three Do album. From Anatomy of Tongue In Cheek, they sang Sadie Hawkins Dance, and from the Employee of the Month EP, the sang A Penny Loafer Saved, A Penny Loafer Earned. That last one that I mentioned is a tribute to Brian who left the band during the summer to open his own landscaping business. I miss him, but what can you do? I think that the choice of the song also probably comes from a tribute to Aaron Marrs. He designed the cover for the EP and just before Christmas, his boat sank in the arctic.
Anyways, the final song was I Am Understood? (which is one of my favourites) and the encore song was I So Hate Consequences and I have never been this happy in my life.
Last night, I was talking to the manager of the band (his name is Jeff), and he told me that the band might be coming up to Canada this year. I hope they come out my way. I would be so freakin' happy. And then I could meet the guys and get married to Matty T. It works. Right?
Well, I should run. I have to work at 9am and it is 1230am my time right now.
Love ya!
C
